Why did you choose Hood College?

It offered the most financial aid, it had the most majors and minors that I was looking for out of the other colleges, and it has a solid swimming team.

Have you participated in an internship or leadership opportunity in the local area or on campus?

Yes, I just completed a summer internship at the Defense Information School at Fort Meade, Md. I assisted the IT department and the director of staff with various projects involving its website renovation and I sat in on multiple classes focused on journalism and public affairs.

What did you gain from that experience?

The internship at DINFOS showed me what to expect in a job in my career field. I learned about what skills are most valuable to a communications major and what jobs relating to my major are available and obtainable.

What is your most memorable experience at Hood?

Either visiting Shenandoah Valley and Luray Caverns for an Honors Program field trip, or going to Improv Night for the first time.

What do you value most about your relationships with your professors?

I value their willingness to communicate with students and offer help whenever confusion over their classes arises.

What is something that surprised you about Hood?

I was surprised at how friendly and open the students were at Hood, and how easy the campus is to navigate.

What was your most rewarding class or academic experience at Hood? Why?

My most rewarding class to take was Physics 101, as it was the most grueling class I ever had to take in both semesters. While I excelled in my other courses (even Statistics and Spanish 203), Physics constantly challenged me with its relentless addition of new formulas and ideas. Although I struggled with the course, I was ultimately able to pass the course with a B-, thanks to my higher grade on the final exam. My other courses, while providing some measure of difficulty, have never reached the nail-biting suspense created by the announcement of a Physics test.

When you aren’t in class, what is your favorite thing to do in your spare time?

I enjoy writing, reading, and swimming in my spare time.

What is your favorite campus event?

Personally, I enjoyed the Fall Fair the most.
