Why did you choose Hood College?
I chose Hood College for many reasons. From my first visit to the campus, the school welcomed me. I was persuaded also by a tour date that was made available exclusively to prospective students from New Jersey. It showed that the college cares about its students from afar. I chose it also because of the generous scholarship given to me by the school. The experience of its faculty members was also a significant contributing factor.
Have you participated in an internship or leadership opportunity in the local area or on campus?
I have pursued leadership opportunities within the Hood College Delegation of the Maryland Student Legislature. I became the Comptroller as of May of this year and have served as the Vice Chairman of the Judiciary Committee since October 2013. I have not pursued an internship in the Frederick area, but I plan to pursue an internship here. I am currently interning at a law firm in my hometown that specializes in personal injury defense cases.
What did you gain from that experience?
In the Maryland Student Legislature, I am still learning how to be an effective Comptroller. I am learning how to exhibit financial responsibility and accountability. I am also responsible for scheduling fundraisers and obtaining sponsors. From my experience, I will undoubtedly become a better negotiator as I will be negotiating with other delegates about how to organize the fundraisers. The Maryland Student Legislature has allowed me to communicate more effectively with others as well.
What is your most memorable experience at Hood?
My most memorable experience was my freshmen orientation. During that time, I made friends and acquaintances with students from diverse backgrounds and walks of life. It was a great introduction to my college experience and one of the most fun experiences that I have ever had.

What is something that surprised you about Hood?
I was surprised by the accessibility of the professors. Through consulting with some of my professors, I was able to determine a major and a minor. In addition, I established my own plan to complete them in four years. The professors are truly willing to help students and guide them on a path to success.
What was your most rewarding class or academic experience at Hood? Why?
My most rewarding class was Methods of Political Inquiry with Dr. Robinson. She taught me how to conduct research for projects in a more effective manner. I was also impressed with how it combined current events and issues with the course material.
When you aren’t in class, what is your favorite thing to do in your spare time?
My favorite thing to do in my spare time is walking or riding my bike through the city of Frederick with friends and exploring what is happening there. There are always stores, museums and restaurants to visit there. It relieves some of the stress involved with college life.
What is your favorite campus event?
My favorite event is the May Madness Festival at the end of the year. It is a great way to celebrate the close of the end of the semester.
