Why did you choose to pursue a graduate degree?
The interest in IT coupled with the desire to add value to my professional life moved me to pursue this degree.

Why did you choose Hood College Graduate School?
After going through my undergrad studies at a university with large class sizes, I came to the conclusion that the class size and the attention given to students by their professors is critical for my studies as I looked into furthering my education. Looking up colleges for graduate studies and talking to a few friends, I concluded that Hood College would be very good for me—and it definitely was.

What do you value most about your relationships with your professors?
The professors are easily accessible and you can discuss issues you are having in class with them. They are always willing to sit down and work with you to make sure you are on the right path. This I value most.

What was your most rewarding class or academic experience at Hood? Why?
I have had more than one rewarding class. Since my interest has always been in the IT field, I got to know why most of the things I’m so interested in function. I could apply the knowledge accrued from these classes to work and personal life. Plus, working in different groups helped me work more on my communication skills and increase my confidence level.

How do you manage your many other obligations such as work and family with the demands of graduate school?
I have to admit this was not an easy task for me due to the demand at work, but making sure you set aside some specific times for studies goes a long way to help. Due to my long hours at work, I devised a means to increase that time and I did this by recording the lecture as it was going on and taking notes on the side (most of what the professors say in class appear in the exam). On my way to and from work, I played the lecture again and again and went over the notes and textbooks during the weekend. This seems to have worked well for me.

Can you offer any tips to prospective students?
All I can say is to have an aim or goal and do all you can to stay focused on that. Also, try to find what works for you when it comes to studies and use it.

When you aren’t in class, what is your favorite thing to do in your spare time?
During the week, I spent most of the time at work. However, on the weekends I took care of my assignment(s) and step out with my family when time permitted.
