Why did you choose Hood College?

I chose to transfer from Arizona State University to Hood because I wanted to be with my brother, Alex Sexton and my best friend Nick Slawson. I also wanted the small college experience rather than the big, state university experience that I was having at ASU.

What is your most memorable experience at Hood?

My most memorable experience at Hood was being a member of the track and field team as well as the tennis team. On the track team I broke several records and while on the tennis team I got the opportunity to play doubles with my brother for two years.

What is something that surprised you about Hood?

The thing that surprised me the most about Hood is the amount of clubs and activities they provide. There is literally something for everyone, and if there is not, then you can make it.

What opportunity were you most grateful for?

The opportunity I was most grateful for was receiving good enough grades to be named to the Capital One Academic All-American Track and Field Team, simply because it was such a great honor.

What was your most rewarding class or academic experience at Hood? Why?

My most rewarding academic experience was when I participated in an internship in Senator John McCain’s D.C. office. This gave me a great opportunity to see what the world of politics is actually like.

What is your favorite campus event?

My favorite campus event is May Madness. It signals the end of the spring semester and is always full of great events like the Crab Feast.

What are your goals for the near and distant future?

For the near future, I would like to take some time off from school and work in a law office to gain some money and experience. Down the road, I would like to go to law school, become a lawyer and then eventually a politician.

How has your Hood education benefited you?

My Hood education has benefited me by giving me opportunities to be challenged both inside and outside of the classroom. I have also had great experiences, such as internships, that would not have been available to me at other schools.

What would you say to students applying to Hood?

Hood has it all. Great academics, awesome athletics and amazing campus life. There are fantastic people to meet and become friends with, and there is always a club to join or an activity to participate in.
