Why did you choose Hood College?

The small class sizes were appealing, and I’d heard good things about its CS Program.

What is your most memorable experience at Hood?

My software engineering course – challenging is an understatement.

What do you value most about your relationships with your professors?

That I can go to them for advice academic or professional at almost any time, instead of being directed to a TA.

What is something that surprised you about Hood?

The interesting variety of physical education courses that students are offered.

What was your most rewarding class or academic experience at Hood? Why?

My software engineering course as taught by Dr. Dimitoglou. It was extremely hard and stressful, but I learned a lot about software development in the real world, as well as about the process in general.

When you aren’t in class what is your favorite thing to do in your spare time?

Read fantasy novels or play video games.

What is your favorite campus event?

I adore the open mic nights, but the late-night breakfast during finals week is also a gem.

How has the honors program benefitted you?

The Honors Program has provided me with the opportunity to not only attend a lot of off-campus events that I doubt I would have been able to attend otherwise, but it has also given me a forum of peers with which to discuss ideas from a multitude of perspectives.

How do you think the program will benefit you in the future?

What kinds of things has the program helped prepare you to do in the future? Critical and analytical thinking aside, one of the most beneficial things I’ve taken from the Honors Program is a more open mind, and a greater appreciation for what others can contribute to a knowledge pool. I think that alone will greatly help me with working with others in the future.

How has the program improved your experience as a Hood student?

Being able to take courses on topics that interest me, instead of boring gen. ed. courses, has made enjoying college life easier.

What special academic, co-curricular, social and enrichment opportunities does the Honors Program provide (perhaps that you might not have otherwise)?

I’ve been able to attend multiple Cirque du Soleil performances, and visit some semi-local areas I never would have thought to check out.

What is the best/most distinctive/most memorable part of Hood’s Honors Program?

Being able to put your head together with a bunch of other people from different backgrounds, in order to come up with an understanding of a topic.

What’s your advice to future Honors Program students?

Do the reading, do the papers, and have some fun.

Additional comments:

I highly recommend Honors Courses taught by either Dr. Campione, or Dr. Mitchell-Buck.
