Why did you choose Hood College?

I chose Hood College because it gave me that home feel. I wanted a college that had small class sizes and teachers that I could easily communicate with if I was having trouble and Hood College had that for me.

Have you participated in an internship or leadership opportunity in the local area or on campus?

This year I had an internship at Urbana Elementary School. I worked in a first grade classroom helping the students, grading homework and working with the teacher. This year I also had a leadership experience as the president of Alpha Lambda Delta, which is an honors society for first year students.

If so, what did you gain from that experience?

My internship helped me to discover that when I teach I want to teach students in first or second grade. I also built relationships with the teachers at Urbana Elementary School. My leadership opportunity helped me to gain confidence.

What is your most memorable experience at Hood?

One of my most memorable experiences is when I went to Borgne, Haiti for Hood’s alternative spring break. While there, the six of us explored the area, painted a solar system mural at the school, and helped at the mobile clinic. This was a wonderful eye-opening experience.

What do you value most about your relationships with your professors?

What I value most about my relationships with my professors is that I can talk with them at any time. Whether you are having trouble with class work or need to talk about your personal life they are always there for you.

What is something that surprised you about Hood?

Something that surprised me about Hood was the amount of activities that they have on and off campus. On the weekends there is always some event, such as SkyZone, mini golf and trips to D.C. and Hershey Park. On Wednesdays we have Whit Wednesdays where CAB or another club has an event in Whitaker Commons, such as trivia night, karaoke night and craft night. No matter what your interest is Hood is sure to have something for you.

What was your most rewarding class or academic experience at Hood? Why?

This year I had my most rewarding class at Hood and this was my literature class called Narratives of Rome and Britain. This was my most rewarding class because at the beginning of the semester I did not think that I was going to do that well. My professor was very helpful and encouraging and I proved myself wrong and received an A- in the class.

When you aren’t in class, what is your favorite thing to do in your spare time?

My favorite thing to do in my spare time is just hang out with friends. Whether it be going downtown, watching a movie, going to a campus event or going to a sports game it’s good to take a break and have some fun with friends.

What is your favorite campus event?

My favorite campus event is May Madness week because it happens right before finals. Everyone is stressed out and this event lets us take a break and relax. Everyone comes out to have fun and you get to see the great community that we are.
