Why did you choose to pursue a graduate degree?
At the time, my goal was to become a professor. A master’s degree was the next step in my academic career.
Why did you choose Hood College Graduate School?
When I was looking at graduate schools, Hood’s humanities program stood out because it uses an interdisciplinary approach. The program is a combined effort in literature, art, history, politics, religion and philosophy, to name a few. I was interested in all of these topics and Hood allowed me to incorporate various subjects into a concentration specially tailored to me.
How did your degree help you further your professional or personal life?
Even though I have shifted my career to law, my time at Hood continues to further my professional life by opening doors for me through contact with dedicated alumni.
Who is your favorite faculty member and why?
Professor Hoda Zaki pushed me to take risks outside my academic comfort zone. I would not have been successful in my research without her encouragement and guidance.
What would you share with prospective students about your graduate experience at Hood?
My experience at Hood went far beyond the classroom. For example, I participated in academic conferences, where I met renowned experts in my field of study. This small college made my books come to life!
